Greenpeace UK has commissioned RIB building specialist XS RIBS to construct a custom XS 700, designed to support its environmental campaigns and ocean-based operations. The vessel has been built to Greenpeace’s exact specification and is powered by Yamaha outboards, chosen for their proven reliability and global reputation for performance.
This is not the first collaboration between Greenpeace and XS RIBS. The charity first approached the company in the 1980s, and several of the same craftsmen involved in those early builds remain part of the team today.
Our team are the same in part that made the original Greenpeace boats years ago, so when we say we have over 100 years of collective experience in building and supplying custom RIBs, we really mean it.
All XS RIBS are designed and manufactured entirely in the UK, at the company’s Yorkshire-based facility. This approach, says Lock, ensures quality and consistency:
…our boats are built, in their entirety, here in the UK, which allows us full control over the process, ensuring we use the best parts and can oversee our builds from scratch.

Owned by Barnet Marine Centre, the XS RIBS brand was established in the early 2000s and has since grown to serve a wide customer base, from private leisure users to commercial operators. Its boats are built to order, ensuring each is tailored to the needs of its operator — a philosophy that has earned the company long-term clients such as Greenpeace.
