The British leg of the flagship series of single-seater inshore circuit Formula 1 powerboat racing – the UIM F1H2O World Championship Grand Prix of London – will be held at East London’s historic Royal Victoria Dock, for the first time since 1985, on 15th–17th June 2018.
Spectators will be able to watch 20 lightweight powerboats from 10 international teams battling each other into turns at over 90mph and hitting speeds of over 140mph on the straights. On Friday there will be a free practice session, with qualifying taking place on Saturday, while on Sunday racing will get underway following a free practice session and parade lap.
Over the course of the weekend the Formula 1 class will be supported by Formula 4S, in which the sport’s up-and-coming drivers learn to hone their skills. There will also be demonstrations from historical powerboats; jet skis; a 14m, 5-tonne, V12 Class 1 offshore powerboat; and junior entry-level powerboats piloted by the next generation of British talent.
