Forty Innovations Shaping the Future of Boating

The Cannes Yachting Festival has announced the official 2025 line-up for its Innovation Route, a showcase dedicated to technologies and eco-conscious solutions redefining yachting. Successfully introduced in 2024, the route now adds a new highlight – the Innovation Route Awards – recognising outstanding advances across four categories, plus a Special Jury Prize.

Rigorous Selection by Experts

More than 120 applications were submitted this year, with a jury of six influential industry figures narrowing the field to 40 innovations. The selection reflects the industry’s accelerating shift towards sustainability, performance, and user safety.

Among the most striking entries are the MODX 70, a 100% electric catamaran with inflatable sails and solar panels; the Lagoon Eighty 2, the first catamaran built with 40% resin from natural or recycled materials; and the Millikan M.10, an electro-solar catamaran offering zero-emission autonomy.

Safety features also stand out, such as AnchorGuardian, a sub-metre precision anchor detection system, and SEA.AI Watchkeeper, which uses AI and night vision to prevent collisions. Hybrid and recyclable boatbuilding solutions are also in the spotlight, including BlueNav BlueSpin, Seadrive, the Leopard 46 Electric Drive, the Vaan R5, and the Tortue 147.

Jury and Awards

The jury includes Guillaume Arnaud des Lyons, Thierry Berest, Jean-Christophe Guillaumin, Geoffroy Langlade, Elena Patriarca, and Craig Ritchie. Awards will be presented on Tuesday 9 September when the show opens, with prizes for:

  • Enhancing the navigation experience
  • Sustainable and responsible technologies
  • Propulsion systems or alternative energies
  • Low environmental impact processes or products

A Special Jury Prize will also highlight one particularly bold project.

Commitment to the Future

Festival Director Sylvie Ernoult said: “We are particularly proud to see the growing importance of major innovations at the Cannes Yachting Festival year after year.”

The full list of 40 selected innovations is available via the Festival website.
