The Grand Banks 62

Grand Banks Yachts has announced the launch of the new Grand Banks 62, continuing the company’s 70-year heritage of designing long-distance cruising yachts that aim to combine speed, efficiency and range. The Grand Banks 62 reflects the brand’s ongoing development of performance cruising motoryachts, building on proven hull design and construction methods. 

Depending on engine selection, the Grand Banks 62 delivers a top speed of 30 knots and a high cruise of 27 knots. At displacement speeds, range extends to 2,000 nautical miles at 10 knots with a 10 percent reserve. At 20 knots, average fuel burn is quoted at 38 gallons per hour, positioning the yacht at the leading edge of efficiency within its class. 

Performance and hull technology

Central to the Grand Banks 62 is the V-Warp® Technology hull, developed under the direction of CEO and Chief Designer Mark Richards. The hull maintains an approximately six-degree running angle across the speed range, maximising waterline length for efficiency and stability. Standard power is twin Volvo D13 engines rated at 900 horsepower each on straight shafts, with optional 1,000 horsepower shaft-drive engines or Volvo IPS 1200S packages available. 

The hull form features a fine entry, curved midsections and minimal deadrise aft. Construction combines precise resin infusion with E-Glass, unidirectional and multi-axial fibres, fused directly to a carbon fibre structure, deck and superstructure.

Accommodation and onboard practicality

The additional length over the Grand Banks 60 allows a three-stateroom, three-head layout, including an enlarged starboard guest cabin with en suite facilities. The amidships master stateroom features a king berth, generous storage and natural ventilation, while the forward VIP cabin includes a queen berth and dedicated head. 

Wide side decks, a starboard helm door, extended bridge overhang and a large lazarette support safe handling and long-range cruising. A Skylounge option and multiple interior layouts are available.
