GWcycles 2025 Sets Record for Distance and Participation

The fourth edition of Gebruder Weiss’s international cycling initiative, GWcycles, has achieved record-breaking results, both in distance and participation. Around 800 cyclists collectively covered 1,047,998 kilometres between April and October 2025 – an increase of nearly 300,000 kilometres from the previous year’s total of 768,800 kilometres and 600 riders.

Under the rallying theme “Cycling for the Seas,” the campaign invited cycling enthusiasts worldwide to track their kilometres in support of marine conservation. For every 100,000 kilometres ridden, Gebruder Weiss pledged to fund the removal of one metric ton of plastic waste from rivers and coastal zones in Southeast Asia.

Ten Tons of Ocean Plastic to Be Removed

Thanks to this year’s exceptional participation, the company will sponsor the removal of ten metric tons of plastic by the end of 2025. This vital work will be carried out through a partnership with CleanHub, a Berlin-based environmental technology company that develops sustainable waste management systems in high-risk coastal regions.

Cycling makes a difference – for yourself and for the environment. That’s what our GWcycles initiative stands for. It also shows the power of community. We’re proud of our growing global cycling community, which continues to come together across borders in support of environmental protection.

Global Team Spirit and Recognition

To encourage continued participation, Gebrüder Weiss awarded prizes for distance milestones and maintained an international leaderboard. The top cyclist of 2025, Kristian Buljan from Germany, completed an impressive 19,022 kilometres.

The initiative highlights how corporate social responsibility and individual action can combine to deliver real-world environmental benefits.
