MC-ZERO 450 targets a new kind of tender

McConaghy Boats and ZeroJet have announced the global launch of MC-ZERO Tenders, led by the new MC-ZERO 450, described as the world’s first carbon fibre twin 48V electric jet tender. Developed through a partnership between the international yacht builder and the New Zealand-based electric propulsion specialist, the model is aimed at owners seeking greater versatility, cleaner propulsion and more usable onboard space.

Carbon construction and modular layout

The MC-ZERO 450 has been designed around a rigid carbon hull and a patent-pending moveable helm. According to the company, this layout gives the tender 40% more internal volume than a traditional RIB, while allowing the modular deck to shift from guest shuttle to gear carrier in minutes. Twin electric jets also provide redundancy, which may appeal to larger vessels operating in remote locations.

At the bow, electric drop-down steps create a stable access point for boarding and disembarking, while preserving a clean profile when closed. At the stern, a fully actuating electric transom extends at the push of a button to form a broader platform for swimming, boarding or waterside leisure.

Twin ZeroJet power and key specifications

Power comes from twin 30kW ZeroJet electric drives, described as equivalent to 80hp, paired with a 48V SAFIERY 32.4kWh solid-state battery system. The quoted top speed is 25 knots.

The MC-ZERO 450 serves as a benchmark in tenders. Traditional vessels are restricted by fixed layouts and protruding engine boxes. We’ve engineered the 450 from a clean sheet to remove these legacy compromises, allowing the boat to adapt to the user, rather than the other way around.
