Mercury Marine Launches 6HP EFI Outboard – Compact Power, Big Performance

Mercury Marine, a division of Brunswick Corporation, has unveiled its new 6HP EFI outboard engine – a compact yet powerful addition to its renowned portable range. Built on Mercury’s proven 209cc 8/9.9HP EFI platform, this latest model delivers impressive torque, effortless starting, and exceptional reliability for small-boat applications.

The 6HP EFI features advanced electronic fuel injection (EFI) for smooth, reliable starting in all weather conditions. Its calibration enhances fuel efficiency, while Mercury’s exclusive multi-function tiller handle enables shifting and throttle control with a single hand.

Available in both tiller and remote-control configurations, the new model is ideal for rental fleets and recreational boaters operating vessels up to 15 feet (4.6 metres). High displacement ensures strong low-end torque and steady handling, even on heavier boats.

Designed for practicality, the 6HP EFI offers several smart features that make boating easier:

• Ergonomic multi-function tiller handle for intuitive control
• Ratcheting clamp bracket for simple tilt adjustments
• Maintenance-free design with no oil filter or valve lash adjustments required
• Quick-connect freshwater flush system for easy cleaning

The new 6HP EFI made its world debut at the Le Grand Pavois boat show in La Rochelle, France, from 23–28 September 2025. With this release, Mercury strengthens its presence in the compact outboard sector, offering a solution that blends high performance with everyday usability.
