Simrad Yachting Launches AutoTrack™

Simrad Yachting has unveiled AutoTrack™, a new feature for its HALO® 2000 and HALO® 3000 radar systems. Designed to improve on-water safety and awareness, AutoTrack automatically detects, tracks and prioritises moving vessels and other targets, offering boaters a clearer understanding of their surroundings.

Enhancing Situational Awareness

Kevin Steinbraker, VP and General Manager, Digital Systems for Navico Group, described AutoTrack as a natural extension of Simrad’s commitment to reliable marine electronics. He emphasised that the feature provides vital information seamlessly, without complicating the user experience.

AutoTrack works quietly in the background, adding an extra layer of safety whether navigating busy waterways or cruising offshore. Its design ensures that captains remain informed, aware and in control at all times.

Intuitive Tracking and Alerts

Within the radar app, AutoTrack overlays vessels and potential hazards with clear visual cues, displaying their trajectories for effortless situational awareness. Even when the main radar screen is not active, it continues to monitor surroundings via a dynamic widget. This widget prioritises only the most critical alerts, helping captains make confident decisions without distraction.

The system can track targets up to 24 nautical miles away and monitor up to 50 objects simultaneously, offering comprehensive coverage for a range of boating scenarios.

Seamless Integration and Future Plans

AutoTrack comes enabled by default with the HALO 2000/3000 V8.2.0 software update and can be easily turned on or off in the radar settings. It is fully integrated with the HALO radar systems and designed to feel like an organic part of the Simrad interface.

Compatible Simrad multifunction displays include the NSS and NSO evo3 and evo3S series with software version 25.1, and the NSX®, NSX ULTRAWIDE and NSS® 4 displays with version 2.1 or later. Plans are in place to expand support to Simrad®, Lowrance® and B&G® HALO dome radars in the near future.
