Dometic BP124 Battery Pack

Dometic’s new BP124 24V battery pack is a perfect complement to their portable compressor fridge/freezer range. I say this because having had experience of their products before, I have often wanted to keep one of their coolers on the go through a hot day on a small boat, without the luxury of an on-board domestic battery to do so.
Being a high-quality lithium ion battery, the BP124 packs a powerful 24V punch yet weighs only 2.5kg and has compact dimensions of 200 x 150 x 65 mm. This small battery can power a 26-litre Dometic CFX 28 fridge/freezer for the best part of 60 hours, and will even keep the big 70-litre CFX 75DZW running for over a day. All Dometic cool boxes are 12V/24V and 110V/240V AC powered, with automatic voltage sensing, so when you are not on mains power you just plug in the BP124 and the cooler will run automatically.
The BP124 comes with an LED mains charger, and will take five hours to fully recharge from being totally flat. As a lithium ion battery, it does not suffer from being fully discharged like a conventional lead acid or gel battery. And since it is a product of Samsung’s latest lithium ion technology, it will not suffer from the battery memory issues that have plagued earlier-generation lithium batteries. It may not appear cheap at £332 (inc. VAT), but five years ago it would have cost twice as much, been twice the size and lasted half as long.
