These new open-array radars push the boundaries of situational awareness.

Revealed at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, Simrad Yachting have unveiled two new high-performance open-array radar systems, HALO 2000 and HALO 3000. Available to customers around the world, both feature high-power pulse compression radar with improved detection ranges, which Simrad claim to be the most powerful systems in their field. There are many new features, notably Bird+ Mode, ZoneTrack and support for Dangerous Target Alerts. These next-generation open-array radars deliver more power, resolution and accuracy than before.

HALO 2000 comes with 50W of power, ensuring visibility out to 72nm, while HALO 3000, with 130W of power, provides visibility to 96nm. This level of power is combined with even sharper imagery for enhanced target separation. In particular, with the HALO 3000, the new Bird+ Mode feature activates the radar to solely focus on maximising its 130W of power, to target and identify flocks of birds at ranges up to 8nm. Bird+ Mode is exclusive to the HALO 3000 series, developed specifically for serious offshore anglers who want to locate birds well in advance. For the keen offshore skipper, HALO 2000 provides the power necessary to see storm cells more clearly at greater distances, without the cost and size of the bigger system. HALO 2000 starts at £6,380, and HALO 3000 costs from £8,440.
