Compact in length but ambitious in scope, the Sterk 26 is a new-generation performance weekender designed to offer genuine versatility within a highly configurable 26ft platform. The boat was launched at this year’s boot Dusseldorf boat show, and PBR were amongst the first to get the opportunity of seeing Sterk’s latest offering in the flesh. With power options extending up to 500hp, a twin-stepped hull and a modular deck and cabin concept, Sterk Yachts clearly intend this model to blur the boundaries between day boat, sports cruiser and compact weekender.

Design concept and positioning

The Sterk 26 has been conceived as a modular boat, allowing owners to tailor the specification toward outright performance, relaxed family cruising or extended day boating with overnight capability. Despite its relatively compact footprint, the design places a strong emphasis on usable deck space, protected social areas and a surprisingly complete interior.

A wide beam, purposeful hull form and contemporary styling give the boat a confident stance on the water, while the stepped hull underlines its performance intent. Sterk Yachts describe the model as trailerable, yet capable of carrying systems and equipment more commonly associated with larger boats.

Hull design and performance potential

At the heart of the Sterk 26 is a twin-stepped hull, developed to deliver efficient planing, reduced drag and high-speed stability. Power options begin at 200hp and extend to a maximum of 500hp, with both single and twin outboard configurations available.

With the largest engine package, Sterk quotes a top speed of approximately 54 knots, placing the Sterk 26 firmly in the high-performance end of the 8-metre sector. Fuel capacity of 388 litres supports extended cruising ranges, while the hull design is intended to maintain a level running attitude both during acceleration and at speed.

Deck layout and social spaces

The cockpit and deck arrangement reflect the boat’s modular ethos. Seating layouts can be configured to prioritise dining, lounging or open deck space, with generous sunbathing areas both aft and forward. A wet bar module is available, incorporating a sink, refrigerator and cooktop, reinforcing the Sterk 26’s credentials as a social day boat.

Access to the water is straightforward, aided by an integrated bathing ladder and wide swim platforms. Shade options range from bimini arrangements through to a rigid T-top, which can also be specified with solar panels to support onboard systems.

Helm station

The helm station is designed around modern digital navigation, with provision for twin 10-inch displays and NMEA network integration. Connectivity features include a 4G modem and smartphone docking, reflecting the expectations of contemporary owners.

Joystick control is offered as an option, enhancing low-speed handling and close-quarters manoeuvring, particularly for higher-powered or twin-engine installations. Ergonomic seating allows for both seated and standing driving positions.

Cabin and overnight capability

Below deck, the Sterk 26 offers a compact but well-considered cabin arrangement suitable for overnighting. The interior includes a sleeping area, a separate toilet compartment and practical stowage throughout. A fresh water system supports onboard facilities, with a dedicated holding tank fitted for extended use.

While clearly not intended as a full cruiser, the cabin provides sufficient comfort for weekend use, making the Sterk 26 a credible option for owners seeking flexibility between fast day boating and occasional overnight stays.

Who is the Sterk 26 suitable for?

The Sterk 26 targets owners who want performance without sacrificing comfort or adaptability. Its wide range of configurations makes it suitable for everything from high-speed coastal runs to relaxed family days afloat, while its power options and hull design will appeal to drivers who value speed and control.

In a competitive 26ft sector, in our view, the Sterk 26 stands out through its modular approach and willingness to offer specifications that push well beyond the norm for boats of this size.
