Chichester Harbour, located on the south coast of England, is a designated National Landscape offering 17 miles of sheltered, well-marked and lit channels. Its protected waters and direct access to the Solent make it ideal for recreational boating, whether for a short cruise, a beach picnic or an extended stay.
The area invites boaters to explore a number of picturesque shoreline villages, such as West Itchenor, where traditional architecture meets maritime heritage. Nature lovers can enjoy birdwatching, coastal walks and even spot one of the harbour’s resident seals. The harbour is part of an internationally important wetland and supports a wide range of wildlife throughout the year.
For the 2025 season, Chichester Harbour Conservancy has completed a major upgrade to the jetty at Itchenor. The facility now offers walk-ashore berthing, short-stay moorings and “touch and go” access for pick-up and drop-off. The jetty is usable at all states of tide and provides on-site Wi-Fi, with public slipway access and parking for cars and trailers available nearby.
West Itchenor is within walking distance and offers a pub, café and sailing club. It lies on the King Charles III England Coast Path and is linked by a ferry crossing to Bosham Hoe.
The harbour caters to both day visitors and longer-term boaters. Rare availability of swinging moorings is being offered this season in prime locations including Itchenor and Emsworth. Both full tide and drying moorings are available, suitable for yachts, motorboats, RIBs and small craft.
Chichester Harbour combines practical access with natural beauty, making it an attractive destination for leisure boaters and those seeking seasonal moorings.
