Why is it so important to have a VHF on board? VHF radios provide reliable and instant communication with the coast guard, other boats and marine authorities. Mobile phones can drop in and out of service, but VHF radios work even in remote areas, ensuring you can call for help in case of an emergency.
A top tip – get a big aerial rigged if you have a fixed unit – you get a longer range when trying to contact someone!
