Europe’s largest on-water commercial marine and workboat exhibition 

Mayflower Park in Southampton is a hive of activity as Seawork prepares for its 24^th edition with a packed schedule of events, ceremonies and networking opportunities.

Supported by the commercial marine industry’s key associations and organisations, Seawork and Marine Civils offers a unique combination of undercover exhibition space, open air demonstrations and floating displays.

Monday, 12 June – Speed@Seawork

The historic Royal Yacht Squadron (RYS) in Cowes will, for the first time, play host to Speed@Seawork welcoming a range of fast vessels that operate at high speed in the security intervention, Search And Rescue (SAR) and emergency services sectors.

Military and industry experts will share their thoughts on future vessels and mission requirements, and the challenge of re-powering fast craft fleets in a changing world.

Tuesday 13 June – Minister of State Nusrat Ghani official opening – Waterfront Restaurant 10.30am

Seawork opens its doors to visitors on Tuesday, 13 June (at 09.30) with Minister of State, Nusrat Ghani officially opening the event at 10.30am.

Commercial Marine Network | Workboat 2050: Port Infrastructure & Alternative fuels: Onshore & Offshore fuelling systems – Conference Room 1 09:45 – 11:00

Series 3 of Get Set for Workboat 2050 will look at practical applications of decarbonisation and provide examples of businesses and workboat operators who are successfully employing technology, innovation, and design to reduce the carbon footprint.

European Commercial Marie Awards – Waterfront Restaurant 1730 – 1930

The prestigious European Commercial Marine Awards (ECMAs), incorporating the Innovations Showcase Awards and sponsored by Siemens Financial Services, celebrate the outstanding individuals and innovative companies that comprise this vibrant and productive industry sector. Judged by a panel of industry experts, the Innovations Showcase overall winner receives the coveted ‘Spirit of Innovation Award’.

Wednesday 14 June – Women In Marine Industry Reception – Seawork Event Space 15.30 – 16.30

Catriona (Cat) Savage, the first female President of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects (RINA) will speak at Seawork at the ‘Women In Marine Industry’ reception on Wednesday 14 June.

Cat, who is Technical Assurance and Capability Director at international multi-disciplinary engineering and design consultancy BMT, explains that the purpose on which the institution was founded in 1860 is as relevant today as it was then, which is to “advance the art and science of ship design”.

The event offers women in the commercial marine industry an opportunity to share career experiences and know-how, renew and expand networks, and hear about key industry developments.

Seawork’ Cardboard Boat Regatta – waterside pontoons 5:30pm – 7:30pm. 

The now legendary ‘Cardboard Boat Regatta’, sponsored by Knighthood Marine, is a hard-fought battle to stay afloat in any craft made from cardboard! The regatta event includes live music, bar and food.

Thursday 15 June – Training and Careers Day

The final day of Seawork will see the Maritime Training and Careers Day. With the anticipated growth of the industry, Seawork is the perfect place for aspiring young people (aged 15 – 19) to gain inspiration and find out more about the endless possibilities available to them in the maritime industry.

Working with Maritime UK and the Solent LEP, invitations to the dedicated ‘Careers & Training Day’ have been extended to secondary schools and colleges across the southern region, with over 150 students already registered. They will be given an exclusive opportunity to engage with leading professionals working in the commercial marine sector and gather first-hand insight into the industry.

BMEEA annual Apprentices Competition – Seawork Event Space 10.30

BMEEA Apprentices (the British Marine Electronics Association) – Level 3 Marine Electrical and apprentice teams from marine businesses will compete in real time to produce a fully working electrical system!

Sonihull® fit for a king!

Harnessing the power of ultrasound to clean up the seas has been given the royal seal of approval with sector specialist Sonihull® being named as one of the first recipients of The King’s Awards for Enterprise.

The ultrasonic soundwaves has been designed to safely prevent marine algae, weeds and molluscs from colonising ocean-going vessels and structures like ships and wind farms.

Artemis Technologies launches new electric foiling water taxi

Artemis Technologies, a leader in the development of high-performance maritime technology, is using Seawork to discuss the new launch of its electric foiling water taxi, the Artemis EF-12 Escape.

The high-end zero-emission water taxi will be providing safe, efficient, and on-demand mobility for environmentally conscious cities and exclusive resorts across the globe. Equipped with advanced electric foiling technology, the luxury taxi will reduce energy consumption and emissions while providing a smooth and comfortable ride.

Seaweed Farm technology showcase

New exhibitor, ePropulsion provides a clean, sustainable and eco-friendly atmosphere for marine life and the surrounding environment. It will be showcasing its I-Series and H-Series range of inboard motors at Seawork this year which have been trialled and adopted onboard vessels serving Zanzibar’s seaweed farms.

200 years of experience will bring zero-emission tugs to Europe

Damen Shipyards and Boluda Towage have joined forces to bring zero-emission tugs to Europe. In a ground-breaking move, the two organisations, aim to launch the first newbuild methanol tug in Europe. The first vessel is intended to be a Damen RSD-E Tug 2513. Damen is currently developing the methanol-powered tug as part of its mission to be the world’s most sustainable shipbuilder.
