Barrus Celebrate 100-year Anniversary

2017 is a proud and momentous year for E.P. Barrus Ltd as the company celebrates its 100-year anniversary. Barrus entered the marine market during the 1920s and were pioneers of the concept that became known as the ‘package boat’ – a series of boats already fully equipped at a range of prices to suit most pockets. Powerboat racing has always featured throughout Barrus’s long history, enabling the company to showcase its engine brands under the most extreme conditions. Ernest Barrus, the company’s founder, established a Barrus powerboat racing team in the 1920s, and again, in the 1970s and 1980s, Mariner outboards were promoted through powerboat racing.

Barrus’s official birthday will fall during the Southampton Boat Show on 18th September. One of the longest-serving exhibitors at the Southampton Boat Show, Barrus have continued to build an impressive portfolio of market-leading brands, including Mariner outboards, Quicksilver boats, Yanmar and John Deere inboard engines, Mercury outboards, and Mercury MerCruiser and Mercury diesel engines. Now represented across three stands, and on the water, Barrus will be featuring the latest line-up of products, offering the leisure and professional user an extensive choice of marine engines, boats and accessories.

Quicksilver will showcase their impressive series of award-winning boats – from the compact, entry-level Activ 455 Cabin to the top-of-the-range Captur 905 Pilothouse designed for serious fishing combined with comfortable, performance cruising. Two new Activ models will be launched. The Activ 555 Cabin, the third and largest model in the Cabin range, has a distinctive design with unique features, functionality and versatility. The Activ 875 Sundeck is the flagship of the Sundeck range and extends the line-up from 6 to 9 metres.

A new, classic line of traditionally styled boats from Admiral Boats will make their debut at the show, with models including the Admiral 650, Admiral 570 Retro and the electrically powered Admiral 450 One.

Mariner outboards, from the lightweight, portable 2.5hp to the feature-packed mid-range and the supercharged Verado, will be on display, along with the new Mariner Marathon commercial 4-stroke range of high-displacement, low-horsepower engines.

On the Mercury stand, the latest, most advanced outboard and inboard engines will be on show, including the Mercury 400R, the most powerful consumer outboard ever produced by Mercury, and a range of innovative systems designed to make boating easier, including Mercury Active Trim, an RPM- and GPS-based control system delivering instant and effortless automatic trim, Mercury VesselView 703, the next-generation multifunction premier engine information display system, and VesselView Mobile for digital data across mobile devices.

Barrus can be found on Stands E050, E069 and F020, and to find out more about the company visit www.barrus.co.uk.
