Ocean Signal unveils new safeSEA S200 AIS SART

Ocean Signal has unveiled the safeSEA S200 AIS SART, a next-generation Search and Rescue Transmitter debuting at METSTRADE 2025. The new model integrates AIS technology with the established reliability of the IMO compliant safeSEA S100 Radar SART, offering a modernised approach to rescue visibility and vessel coordination.

Enhanced Visibility Through AIS

The S200 transmits AIS distress signals that can be received by AIS-equipped ships, SAR vessels, aircraft, and shore stations. Unlike traditional radar-only signals, AIS allows the S200 to be detected over a longer range, improving awareness for vessels operating nearby. Through GPS and real-time data exchange, it provides accurate positioning to support faster and more coordinated rescue operations, particularly in remote or lightly trafficked waters. AIS tracking also supports collision prevention, giving professional and leisure crews additional situational awareness.

NFC and Mobile App Connectivity

Alongside AIS, the S200 features Near-Field Communications for use with the Ocean Signal mobile App. This enables users to view self-test results, programming details, and performance metrics, helping them maintain readiness and ensure consistent operation.

A life raft-ready rescue tool

Designed for use during life raft deployment, the S200 can be kept inside a raft or mounted near emergency exits for swift access. It builds on the trusted foundation of the safeSEA S100, retaining the rugged construction, long battery life, and mounting versatility valued by mariners and operators who require GMDSS compliance.

Our new GMDSS SART incorporates precise AIS technology to offer more boaters enhanced visibility and communication during emergencies. Ocean Signal is committed to leveraging the capabilities of AIS to advance maritime safety and help to save more lives at sea.
