Windermere unveils new sustainable GT Mono Light class
Windermere’s third sustainable race day introduced a new national class and underlined growing momentum behind lower-carbon powerboat racing.
Italian manufacturers Selva Marine have announced that all the outboard motors in their range are now certified under the UK Recreational Craft & Personal Watercraft Regulation SI 2017 No. 737, and, as such, are UKCA marked.
Following the UK’s departure from the EU, new legislation for outboard motors requires all imported products to be accredited with the new UKCA mark, replacing the EU’s CE mark certification. Selva are the first outboard brand to be fully certified with the UKCA mark, showing their strong commitment to the UK market.
Giovanni Franzini, Marine Business Manager at Selva Marine, said: ‘The legislation states that anyone bringing a non-UKCA-marked product into the UK market in 2021 will be required to retail it within the same year. We therefore decided to get the UKCA certification of our outboard motors completed as soon as we could. Delivering UKCA-marked Selva outboard motors to our UK dealers now gives them confidence to stock and display throughout the season. This in turn gives customers the opportunity to view a broader range of Selva products and choose the right engine for them.’
