The Allblack Racing team, in partnership with FPT Industrial, set another world record in the summer when the team completed the Cork–Fastnet–Cork race in just 2 hours, 6 minutes and 47 seconds (average speed 62.75mph [100.99km/h]. The new record has been ratified by the Union Internationale Motonautique (UIM), while the Irish Powerboat Club has commissioned a trophy – named the FPT Allblack Trophy – to award to the next team to break the record. Until then, the trophy will be held at the oldest yacht club in the world: the Royal Cork Yacht Club.
The record was achieved by the Allblack SL44 powerboat, powered by two FPT Industrial N67 560hp engines. The engines have a 6.7L displacement and four valves per cylinder, delivering a maximum power of 560hp.
This achievement consecrates the long-term partnership between FPT Industrial and the Allblack Racing team, and adds another prize to the team’s growing collection.
