The 93ft museum ship, operated by Spain’s Nao Victoria Foundation, will dock in London as part of its first northern European tour.
The Santa Maria was Columbus’ lead vessel in his 1492 voyage to the Americas. The modern Christopher Columbus replica replica, launched in 2018, is built to the original specifications but includes modern navigation equipment. Visitors will be able to explore its four decks, featuring historically accurate cabins, crew quarters, and exhibits.
Following the success of the Galeón Andalucía’s visit in 2024, St Katharine Docks anticipates strong interest in this historic attraction. Marina Manager Paul Atkins said: “It was fantastic to host the Galeón Andalucía last year, and we’re looking forward to working with the Nao Victoria Foundation again. The Santa Maria’s visit will be a spectacle in the heart of London.”
The ship is scheduled to arrive at 12:00 on 28 May, pending weather conditions. It will be berthed in the centre basin near the Lock and Haven Building. Ticket details will be announced via the Nao Victoria Foundation website: www.fundacionnaovictoria.org.
