MDL adds jet ski docking pods at Cobb’s Quay Marina

MDL Marinas has announced an investment in dedicated personal watercraft facilities at Cobb’s Quay Marina, with 20 purpose-built jet ski docking pods planned alongside additional traditional berthing. 

The investment is said to form part of wider improvements at the marina and will create new waterside space for alongside berthing and a purpose-built jet ski pontoon. 

The first seven docking pods are scheduled for installation in July, followed by a further 13, providing capacity for up to 20 personal watercraft. 

According to MDL Marinas, the pontoon has been designed so that its berthing configuration can be adapted as customer requirements change. 

They describe the docking pods as an out-of-water storage option intended to make launching and recovery quicker and more straightforward. The pontoon will include 16- and 32-amp electrical connections and a water supply, allowing users to charge batteries and flush engines after use. 

Customers will also have access to the marina’s slipway, facilities and on-site services, together with direct access to Poole Harbour, which MDL Marinas describes as the world’s second-largest natural harbour. 

The development also complements the self-storage units at Cobb’s Quay, located beside the slipway and new pontoon. 

Available with year-round, 24-hour access, the units range from 6.5 to 172 square feet. MDL Marinas told PBR they can be used to store lifejackets, watersports equipment, maintenance gear and other boating essentials close to the water. 

The project forms part of its continuing investment across its marina network and is intended to help Cobb’s Quay respond to changing boating and watersports requirements.
