Dometic launches CADAC Van Cook FFD compact barbecue 

Dometic has introduced the CADAC Dometic Van Cook FFD, a compact gas barbecue developed for vanlife, camping holidays and outdoor cooking on the move and potential suitability for use on/with boats. 

Designed for use where space is limited, the Van Cook FFD is aimed at camper van, tent, motorhome and boat users who want a portable cooking option without relying on larger gas bottles. According to Dometic, the barbecue combines a space-saving layout with safety-focused gas cooking technology. 

A key feature of the Van Cook FFD is its integrated Flame Failure Device. Dometic states that the system automatically shuts off the gas supply if the flame unexpectedly goes out. 

The company says this is designed to help prevent the build-up of unburned, flammable gas, reducing the risk of fire or explosion. The barbecue is fitted with a burner intended to provide even heat distribution, with flame adjustment controlled by a single knob. 

The Van Cook FFD runs on a gas cartridge rather than a large gas bottle. Dometic says the magnetic connector allows the cartridge to click into place, helping to make the barbecue easier to set up when travelling. 

The unit is intended for different styles of cooking, including grilling, coffee making and one-pot meals.

• Wind/splatter shield 

Dometic says the GreenGrill ceramic coating is designed to make cleaning easier, withstand higher temperatures, distribute heat more effectively and retain heat more efficiently, helping to reduce gas consumption during cooking and grilling. 

The wind/splatter shield is designed to help keep the cooking area cleaner while also protecting the flame from wind.
