New Waterline shoe targets summer waterside use

Grubs has introduced the Waterline shoe for summer 2026, positioning the new model as practical footwear for waterside activities, camping, caravanning and general outdoor use.

The company says the waterproof slip-on shoe has been designed for use around rivers, pools and campsites, as well as for activities that combine wet and dry terrain.

Its shaped design is intended to hold the foot securely and keep the heel in place. Grubs says this provides day-long protection and comfort while walking, exploring or relaxing beside the water.

Waterline shoe materials and insulation

The Waterline incorporates 4mm Insu-Foam Ultra™, which Grubs says provides insulation and comfort around the foot.

A Nitrocell™ footbed is designed to provide soft cushioning and an athletic shoe feel. According to the company, the footbed contains a million microscopic nitrogen bubbles that help insulate the wearer from cold surfaces while remaining cool on warmer ground. The Waterline has a breathable fleece lining that wicks moisture away from the foot. The shoe can be slipped on and removed without fastenings. Its rubber construction also allows mud and sand to be rinsed away with a hose.

Outsole technology and reduced weight

The Waterline uses Grubs’ Underfoot Chassis™, which provides a stable platform beneath the foot. Its Trail-Grip™ outsole has a tread pattern designed to work with the natural movement of the foot. Grubs describes the sole as providing reliable grip across a range of surfaces. The shoe also incorporates Superlite® technology. Grubs claims this makes it 30% lighter than conventional rubber boots, while providing buoyancy and comfort through its moulded construction.

The Waterline has been designed to be worn with outdoor clothing, including shorts and skirts, and the company says it can also be used as casual footwear after outdoor activities.

Nine generations of footwear production

Grubs describes itself as a ninth-generation family footwear business, with it’s owners, the Foster family, tracing its shoemaking history to 1776, when it produced footwear for its local community. The business later specialised in footwear for sports emerging in Victorian and Edwardian Britain, helping it develop into an international brand.
