The free-to-download Solentmet app enables sailors to monitor conditions for the four Solent weather stations at Chimet (outside Chichester Harbour), Cambermet (inside Chichester Harbour), Bramblemet (in the Solent) and Sotonmet (in Southampton Water). The rewrite has significantly improved the customer experience and refreshed the visuals using mobile-specific displays to make graphs more readable and navigation around the app easier. The apps are now compatible with the latest versions of Android and iOS and allow important updates to be sent out via push notifications.
James Lavery, Solentmet Support Group developer and trustee, commented: ‘This new update means we are now able to deliver a modern, responsive app with real-time information including wind, atmospherics and tide height for boaters and sailors in the Solent.’
