Two debuts for Nord Star's flagship at Southampton

Nord Star Boats Finland is marking Southampton International Boat Show 2026 with the international debut of the Nord Star 49+ SCY fitted with the optional Volvo Penta D6-480 DPI triple stern drive engine configuration. Nord Star Boats UK is marking the show with the UK debut of the Nord Star 49+ SCY flybridge model. Both are being shown on MCC Marine’s stand M327-M3335.

What is the Nord Star 49+ SCY?

Nord Star describes the 49+ SCY as the largest serial production boat in its class, offering what they describe as cutting-edge driving comfort and luxurious living. The SCY designation stands for “Semi Customised Yacht,” denoting a model built to allow alternative interior layouts on the upper deck, along with alternative layouts for the aft deck seating and entertaining area. Nord Star say they are tailoring the boat to each individual owner.

How is the 49+ SCY built for offshore cruising?

The 49+ SCY has a hand-laminated hull and a hand-painted gel coat finish, paired with what Nord Star describes as industry-leading propulsion and offshore performance intended to support safe, enjoyable cruising in all weathers. A walkaround deck fitted with handrails runs the length of the boat, providing safe, easy and unobstructed passage on board. The model is classified as a Design Category B Offshore vessel.

The configuration making its international debut at Southampton is fitted with an optional triple Volvo Penta D6-480 DPI stern drive engine set-up.

What cabin and flybridge layout does it offer?

Below deck, the standard layout includes three spacious, high-headroom cabins alongside a two-level saloon, while the flybridge, at close to 20 square metres, is comparable in size to a mid-sized day cruiser. Nord Star told PBR the interior materials, the boat deck and the flybridge can all be customised to the owner’s specification. That flexibility extends to the accommodation: instead of a fixed third cabin, buyers can specify an additional sleeping area with a double bed, or crew quarters with bunk beds and a simple kitchenette, and the same space can alternatively be configured as a storage room or laundry.

Where can visitors see the Nord Star 49+ SCY?

Both the international debut of the triple-engine configuration and the UK debut of the flybridge model can be seen on MCC Marine’s stand at SIBS 2026, M327-M3335.
