Nordkapp Comtesse 830 launched as a new sunroof weekend cruiser

Nordkapp has introduced the Comtesse 830, bringing back the Comtesse name and starting a new series of sunroof weekend cruisers. Built on the brand’s 830 platform, it pairs an electrically operated soft top with seating for ten and sleeping for up to six. It follows awards for the Enduro 830 and recent nominations for the Airborne 5.4.

How does the Comtesse 830 sunroof work?

Nordkapp says the Comtesse 830 draws on 60 years of Norwegian boat design, adding a roof to the hull and layout of the Noblesse 830 that changes how owners use the boat across the day and the season. At the press of a button, the soft top opens from the windscreen for open-air cruising or closes for shelter from changeable weather or strong sun, and can be stopped at any point to adjust shade and ventilation.

Large side windows keep the view open, the open aft section links the cockpit to the swim platforms, and an aft canopy gives full enclosure with standing height in the aft cockpit.

The sunroof means weather protection on your days out, comfort on longer stays and a faster start when you’re heading to the holiday home. When you’re done for the day, close the roof and cover or remove the aft cushions. No harbour cover or full canopy needed.

How many people can the Comtesse 830 carry and sleep?

With a 2.92-metre beam, the Comtesse 830 is wide for its size. The cockpit seats ten on a full-beam sofa, and the swivelling driver’s seat and adjustable passenger backrest bring those at the helm into the conversation when moored. The ten-person capacity has not yet been CE tested.

Below deck, a main double bed is joined by a quarterberth measuring 2 metres by 1.4 metres, while the cockpit sunbed takes one adult or two children, giving room for up to six across three sleeping areas, plus a separate toilet compartment.

What hull does the Nordkapp Comtesse 830 use?

The Comtesse 830 shares its non-stepped hull and traditional bow with the Noblesse 830, Coupe 830 and Enduro 830. Nordkapp says the beam gives the space of a bigger boat without the handling of one, and that the hull lets it turn like a narrower, sharper boat while keeping the stability of a wide beam. It handles the same with ten aboard as with one, the company adds.

Where does the Comtesse 830 fit in Nordkapp’s range?

Designed by Espen Thorup in Norway, the Comtesse 830 bridges the gap between open boats and wheelhouse boats in Nordkapp’s line-up, with the Noblesse 830 remaining for owners who prefer an open weekend cruiser.

Nordkapp has never made a sunroof boat with an open back. These boats used to be hugely popular, and I think it’s time for a revival in a modern form.
