Ocean Safety launched two major Jon Buoy innovations at METSTRADE 2025

Ocean Safety has introduced two significant additions to its Jon Buoy range at METSTRADE 2025. The Jon Buoy EVAC and the Jon Buoy Mk 6 Smart Release mark a new phase in the company’s long-standing focus on man overboard recovery and abandonment equipment. Both are designed to offer fast, dependable support for leisure and commercial users when response time is critical.

The Jon Buoy EVAC is developed for leisure boaters under sail or power who require a short-term abandonment option without the need for a full liferaft. Available in 4 or 6 person formats, it is compact, lightweight and simple to deploy.

Its core features include automatic inflation, an inflatable arch and canopy, and a high-visibility yellow carcass with red canopy. A boarding ladder, grab handles and weighted keel support stability and access. A 3 year service interval and semi-rigid valise with carry handle assist practicality and transport.

The Jon Buoy Mk 6 Smart Release offers integrated remote deployment for the Jon Buoy Mk 6 Recovery Module. Activated from the bridge or elsewhere on board, it features an illuminated button and flexible mounting points for swift response in a man overboard scenario. For the first time, deployment can also be linked to a vessel’s NMEA2000 network, enabling activation through on board electronics.

Key elements include immediate remote activation, a protective push-button and ON/OFF arming switch, a 3 year service interval with joint scheduling, and an inline connector for straightforward servicing.
