Based in Austria, France, Portugal and the US, the tech start-up had previously used the names OSCAR, BSB Artificial Intelligence and BSB Marine for its different branches and products. From now on, all products and all corporate entities will be gathered together under the new umbrella SEA.AI.
Managing Partner Christoph Ballin said: ‘SEA.AI reflects our leadership position in providing crews with advanced assistance systems based on artificial intelligence. It describes what we do in the shortest possible way – just five letters.’
SEA.AI systems alert crews early about objects on the water. Using the latest camera technology combined with artificial intelligence, SEA.AI detects and classifies objects, including those that escape conventional systems such as radar or AIS, namely unsignalled craft, floating obstacles, buoys, inflatables, kayaks and even people in the water.
