New fold-down side platforms for the STERK 31

STERK Yachts, the boat brand of German manufacturer MS Marine GmbH, has introduced a dual side platform option for the STERK 31. Announced on 6 October 2026, the option is available to order now, with first deliveries scheduled from January 2027. STERK say the platforms add further versatility to the model and bring those on board closer to the water.

How big are the STERK 31 side platforms and how do they work?

Positioned on both sides of the aft cockpit, the fold-down platforms extend the usable deck area when opened. Each measures approximately 1.95 metres in length and up to 0.80 metres in depth, giving extra space at water level for swimming, relaxing at anchor or simply extending the social area of the boat.

Each side is operated independently by its own electric actuator and is rated for a maximum load of 200kg. When a platform is open, an additional stainless-steel safety cable on its forward side provides structural support and added security.

Why are the side platforms only available on new STERK 31 builds?

According to STERK Yachts, the platforms were not developed as an add-on but have been integrated directly into the construction of the boat. The hull, deck and wet bar moulds have been modified to accommodate the new geometry, and custom-made heavy-duty hinges connect the platforms to the deck. All metal components in the system are made from 316-grade stainless steel for marine durability.

The STERK 31 has always been about combining performance with intelligent use of space. With the new side platforms, we are adding another level of versatility to the boat. They create considerably more usable space when you are at anchor and, most importantly, bring everyone on board much closer to the water.

Because the system requires structural changes to the hull and deck, it is fitted during production. The option is therefore offered only on new STERK 31 builds and cannot be retrofitted to existing boats.

Which layouts and engines are available on the STERK 31?

The side platforms sit alongside the STERK 31’s existing choice of deck configurations, allowing owners to tailor the boat further to the way they use it. Layouts include a wet bar with an adjustable sunbed, or a configuration with a rear cabin.

With twin-engine configurations of up to 700hp, the STERK 31 reaches speeds of more than 60 knots, according to the company. Its two-step hull is designed to combine high-speed performance with the handling characteristics that STERK says define its range. The dual side platform option can be ordered now, and first deliveries begin in January 2027.
