European testing planned for STERK 26E electric propulsion

Sterk Yachts has announced plans to begin integrating and evaluating Vision Marine’s E-Motion™ 180E high-voltage electric propulsion system aboard the Sterk 26E in Europe during summer 2026.

The programme is the next phase of a collaboration between Sterk Yachts, the boat brand of MS Marine GmbH, and Vision Marine Technologies Inc. The work is intended to assess the technical requirements of installing the E-Motion™ platform in the compact Sterk 26E dayboat under European boating conditions.

E-Motion 180E integration and testing programme

Under the planned programme, Sterk Yachts will provide the Sterk 26E hull and vessel-side integration support. Vision Marine will supply an E-Motion™ 180E propulsion system together with technical support for installation, commissioning, calibration and on-water testing with the view to evaluate system integration, vessel balance, controls, performance and operating characteristics. Technical data gathered during testing is intended to inform further optimisation and any potential future commercial deployment.

Sterk describes the 26E as a compact, performance-oriented dayboat built around an infusion-manufactured, two-step hull, with its size and layout making it suitable for evaluating the electric propulsion system in European coastal waters, lakes and inland waterways.

Vision Marine states that the marine-specific, high-voltage E-Motion™ 180E system is engineered to deliver 180hp. No final performance data, production timetable, certification status or commercial availability for the Sterk 26E installation has yet been announced.

This program is principally about advancing the E-Motion™ platform through a disciplined European integration and validation process. Working with Sterk Yachts allows us to evaluate our technology within a relevant premium segment while further demonstrating the structured integration capabilities we can provide to OEM partners across different vessel platforms and markets.

Sterk and Vision Marine continue electric propulsion partnership

The project follows a three-year exclusive supply agreement announced by MS Marine GmbH and Vision Marine on 27 February 2025. The agreement makes Vision Marine the exclusive electric propulsion system provider for Sterk Yachts vessels using its technology and gives Vision Marine exclusive global distribution rights for those configurations.

Our collaboration with Vision Marine gives us the opportunity to evaluate high-voltage electric propulsion within the compact premium dayboat segment. The Sterk 26E provides a versatile platform for this work, and the summer program will allow both teams to progress through the integration and testing process together.

Integration work is planned for summer 2026, with further updates expected after what the companies describe as material validation milestones. Final system specifications, performance figures, certification, production timing and commercial availability are due to be determined after the integration and testing programme has been completed and reviewed.
