Sunseeker completes ownership transfer and names incoming CEO

Sunseeker International has announced the completion of its ownership transfer to Cross Ocean Partners and Cheyne Capital, alongside plans to appoint Scott Millar as chief executive officer. Cross Ocean Partners and Cheyne Capital have formally become Sunseeker’s long-term owners and shareholders, according to the yacht builder.

Millar is due to become chief executive officer, although the company has not provided a commencement date. He initially joined Sunseeker through Teneo, where he supported the development of the company’s five-year growth plan. Sunseeker said Millar has more than 27 years of experience in business transformation and operational improvement, including senior roles as chief executive officer and chief transformation officer across several international industries. He will succeed Steve Timms, who has served as interim chief executive officer during the company’s strategic development and ownership transition.

It was important to us not to rush the appointment of a permanent CEO. We wanted it to be someone who truly cares about this brand, who has the vision, passion and experience necessary to lead Sunseeker into its next phase of growth with true stability.

Scott is the perfect choice. He and his team at Teneo were responsible for creating the five-year strategic plan that has been guiding our business.

That’s why we’re so pleased that, after an outstanding career with Teneo, Scott has chosen to join Sunseeker permanently as CEO. He already understands our people, our products and our ambitions, and I know he will be a great leader for the company.

Steve Timms, outgoing interim CEO of Sunseeker

Sunseeker is one of the most admired names in the marine industry, with an extraordinary heritage, an exceptional product range and an incredibly talented team. I especially want to thank Steve for his exceptional work and leadership; and look forward to working together again over the coming months and years.

What attracted me most to Sunseeker was the scale of opportunity ahead. We have a clear vision, ambitious plans for growth and the full support of our shareholders to invest in the brand, our people and our products. I am honoured to lead the business into this next chapter and excited about what we can achieve together for our customers.

Four senior appointments support Sunseeker growth plan

Sunseeker has also announced four appointments intended to strengthen its existing executive team.

Andy Gawthorpe joins as chief commercial officer. The company said his previous roles include global sales director at Aston Martin and seven years at Triumph Motorcycles.

Ian Morgan has been appointed chief strategy officer. He has worked with Sunseeker’s leadership team on its superyacht strategy and wider growth plan.

James Grove joins as chief information officer and will lead Sunseeker’s digital transformation programme. His previous technology leadership roles include positions at Chelsea FC and Southampton FC. Sunseeker also said Grove was recognised as a HotTopics Global CIO 100 winner in 2026.

Adrian Mardell has been appointed non-executive chairman following a senior leadership career at Jaguar Land Rover.

Sunseeker rebrand and new concepts planned for Cannes

Sunseeker said the ownership change and leadership appointments form part of a wider transformation covering commercial operations, product development and manufacturing.

They plan to present a new brand identity and several new product concepts at this year’s Cannes Yachting Festival. Further details of the concepts were not included in the announcement.
