Twisted – The boutique automotive and marine brand has expanded its presence in Salcombe with a showroom and café.
Residents and visitors to Salcombe can enjoy this venue for their caffeine and marine fix, thanks to Twisted Marine. The business that runs Twisted Marine Services (S.M.S Salcombe Ltd) out of Lincombe Boatyard, Salcombe, has invested in premises in the town’s famous Island Street, cementing its commitment to the area.
The public is welcome to the completely renovated ground floor of Brewery Quay.
The frontage of the building sits immediately off Island Street’s quaint and narrow road; it’s now a retail space doubling as a coffee and ice cream bar.
The rear backs onto Shadycombe Creek, with a beautiful view of the estuary and an attached mooring; it now stocks a selection of boats, outboard engines, marine technical apparel and all things marine.
Managing Director of Twisted Marine, Jake Cronk, comments: “Salcombe’s Brewery Quay just got more exciting. The Twisted Marine space allows people to see Twisted products from land to sea.
Twisted Marine has operated quietly from its workshop and slipway facility at Lincombe Boatyard within the Salcombe Estuary for the last three years. However, having a retail space to showcase its products is a move to grow the brand throughout the Southwest and beyond.”
The venue will also showcase and host the extended marine services which Twisted Marine offers, from engineering, brokerage, new sales, storage and parts. Island Street in Salcombe is steeped with boat-building history and is positioned adjacent to Shadycombe Creek opposite Batson.
Jake Cronk adds: “We can genuinely look after all marine customers in Salcombe, from visitors to residents, with our vast experience and backend technical support and boatyard facilities. The new HQ creates an awesome showroom to invite customers into our space to view our products and enjoy a drink with us. Come and say hello and share our enthusiasm.”
With few marine businesses left on Island Street following transitions to retail over the past few decades, Twisted Marine is bucking the trend. The operation is built on engineering foundations and holds main agency status for Volvo Penta, Yanmar, Honda Marine and Mercury.
Among the marine goods and café, visitors will be able to get close to a selection of Twisted Automotive projects such as soft-top Land Rover Defender models by Twisted and the newly launched Suzuki Jimny modified by Twisted; both the ideal vehicle for towing a boat.
