RNLI named Southampton Boat Show charity for 2026
The RNLI will bring lifeboats, engineering insight and practical water safety advice to Southampton International Boat Show in September 2026.
Simrad RS20
The latest radio from Simrad, the RS20, is a rugged Class D digital selective calling (DSC) marine VHF radio. Though not as well known as the likes of Icom when it comes to making radios for open boats, Simrad have been building tough electronics for years, and have a proven record for such in the USA.
The RS20 looks perfectly suited for all sizes of craft, is NMEA 2000 compatible, and is designed to match the low-profile style of modern Simrad glass bridge displays and accessories. It is easy and intuitive to use, and is constructed with a tough, high-contrast black-on-white display that is clearly visible in bright sunlight. Night-time visibility has also been optimised with an inverted white-on-black night mode to reduce light emission and preserve night vision. A rotary dial makes channel selection easy, while large and amply spaced buttons provide quick access to all key functions, even with gloves on. A dedicated Channel 16 key is included on both the radio’s front panel and its four-button fist mic, giving boaters instant access to the emergency channel. An integrated Distress button allows automated DSC distress calling.
Top-mount, overhead or bulkhead installation is easy with the included gimbal bracket. Flush-mount installation is also possible with an optional flush-mount kit.
