Garmin has announced the Garmin Signal™ VHF 400 and VHF 220, a new range of all-in-one marine radios designed to help boaters stay connected and aware on the water.

The Garmin Signal VHF series introduces a compact helm-friendly design, with a 3.5-inch colour touchscreen and edge-to-edge glass. Garmin describes the display as an industry first for this type of marine radio.
The premium Garmin Signal VHF 400 adds an integrated Class B AIS transponder, allowing the radio to transmit a vessel’s name, position, course and speed to nearby AIS-equipped craft.
When performance and reliability are of utmost importance, the new Garmin Signal VHF radios provide mariners with peace of mind on the water. With a compact, yet modern design, the all-in-one radios offer advanced software features to enable reliable offshore communication when boaters need it most.
Key features include automated squelch and adaptive noise cancellation to help reduce background noise during voice communication. The radios can also automatically record up to three minutes of audio transmission from any active channel, with support for recording three channels at once.
Class D DSC allows users to send a distress signal with key information to nearby vessels and emergency responders. DSC calls can also be made from the AIS plotter screen.
A supplied fist mic includes a built-in speaker rated at 95dBA at 0.5 metres, with adaptive background noise cancellation and flexible mounting options.
The Garmin Signal RM 100 remote station allows control from a second helm or flybridge via the Garmin Marine Network. Intercom communication is also supported.
The radios integrate with Garmin chartplotters through NMEA 2000, Garmin Marine Network 1.0 and Garmin BlueNet. The VHF 220 is priced at $999.99, the RM 100 at $699.99 and the VHF 400 at $1,499.99.
