Suzuki DF350A outboards to power GB1 and Emirates GBR chase boats

Suzuki GB has confirmed the continuation of its outboard supply partnership with GB1, the British challenger for the 38th America’s Cup, and the Emirates GBR SailGP Team.

The company says it has supported GB1 since 2022, supplying outboards for chase boats used for equipment movements, transfers and safety support during team operations and racing.

Under the renewed arrangement, Suzuki GB will supply 14 DF350A outboards across the GB1 and Emirates GBR chase boat fleets. Suzuki describes the DF350A as a marine V6 outboard with a 4.4-litre engine, counter-rotating dual propellers and its Lean Burn fuel control system, which the company says is designed to improve fuel efficiency.

DF350A performance in chase boat operations

What I’ve been most impressed by with the Suzuki engines has been the grip and the torque we get from the counter-rotating props. A lot of our work with the chase boat for the F50s is towing (side towing) and manoeuvring with a heavy 50-foot catamaran alongside. The torque we get from the counter-rotating props has been invaluable for that process.

Suzuki GB says it has also provided technical support and parts during GB1’s campaigns and has responded to support requirements regardless of location.

The teams we have operating these boats have really, really appreciated the partnership with Suzuki. Again, the level of service, the performance of the engines – it’s been second to none.

Suzuki GB continues technical support

To partner with GB1 and Emirates GBR has been a real honour. Both the teams and Suzuki strive to be the best, and hearing the feedback from the race crews as they push these engines has been invaluable. Knowing our outboards are backing up the teams wanting to reach the top of competitive sailing gives us great pride.

Suzuki GB says the renewed agreement will continue its support of both teams through the supply of outboard motors for their chase boat operations.
