Light as a feather and as tough as old boots

EZraft are a newly formed Dutch company that only last year launched their first innovative super-light super-tough tender, the T-model, ranging in length from 2.5m to 3.1m and weighing up to 13kg. Now they have followed up with the Q-model, which offers more internal depth and legroom, and ranges in size from 2.4m to 3.6m; their largest model, weighing only 17kg, has an impressive payload of 525kg.

They all come with ‘smart telescopic carbon paddles’ that fold away to the side and are secured when not in use, so they’re always ready for action and impossible to lose. The T-model is rated for up to 4hp engines, while the Q-model can handle up to 5hp; these outputs relate to all craft sizes. The boats are constructed with two sponsons in the traditional manner, while the Q-model has two smaller internal tubes running along the keel line providing the support for the floor and a big increase in buoyancy. The construction uses Dacron (a very tough polyester material) for the main sponsons, reinforced Dacron for the nose section and a TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) material similar to Hypalon for the internal tubes. All boats have removable self-draining transoms made from HDPE (high-density polyethylene), a tough, lightweight material. There are no hard deck panels – even the cross-tube seat is made from Dacron – and all components are stitched with UV-resistant Dyneema yarn. Every model comes with a rechargeable pump, a repair kit and a backpack-sized holdall for transportation.

The holdall makes for easy storage and carriage of the EZraft.

The Q-model range, with its greater internal space, is the best tender option and ranges in price from 1,090 euros for the Q240 to 1,690 euros for the Q360. Currently, sales are direct from EZraft.
