Bespoke Stainless Exhausts for Big Cats
Engine builders Swaymar Marine have recently added bespoke stainless exhaust manifolds for big diesels to their list of custom kit and high-performance petrol engines. Already sole UK agents for Hi-Tek Marine’s one-piece stainless exhaust systems, one of the best exhaust manifolds available for a petrol sterndrive, they have now branched out to cater for diesel engines.
Their first system, as shown here, is for a pair of 715hp Catterpillar C12s. Apparently the original system was made of mild and stainless steel, which do not hold together well and consequently crack, leaking exhaust fumes into the engine bay. Marine exhaust systems often suffer in some manner, and marine-grade 316 stainless steel is the only answer. All exhausts are made to order in accordance with the original pattern, so in effect, their stock list is endless. The example set shown is for two C12 Cats and costs £3,500 (inc. VAT).
