Nimbus Sport Coupé 35: a Coupé built as a Sport Cruiser

Swedish builder Nimbus has released the first rendered images of the Sport Coupé 35, which has its world premiere at boot Düsseldorf from 23 to 31 January 2027, where full specifications will follow. The company describes it as a boat that drives like a Sport Cruiser and lives like a Coupé.

It is one of three models on one hull in the Sport Cruiser 35 series, with the Sport Tender and the Sport Weekender. The Sport Tender 35 premiered at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September 2026 and has been nominated for European Powerboat of the Year 2027 in the 10 to 14 metre class.

In car language a coupé is the sporty one, low, sleek and fast. In Nimbus language a Coupé is the boat you live on. We designed the 35 hull to do everything a day on the water asks of it, and then we wanted the most comfort while you travel, so we gave it everything a Nimbus Coupé is known for. Put the two together and you have a Coupé in both senses of the word, a new kind of Nimbus Sport Coupé.

What hull does the Nimbus Sport Coupé 35 use?

Underneath is the air-lubricated, twin-stepped hull of the 35 series, with a sharp bow and a deeper V aft. It is vacuum-infused in one piece with its beams around a Divinycell core, which Nimbus says makes the boat stiff, light and insulated, with the feel of a heavy, solid boat in a light hull, a low planing threshold and no slamming in a choppy sea. The company adds that the Sport Tender 35 reached 48.5 knots on the same hull with twin Mercury Verado V8 300 outboards in Mercury Marine’s sea trials in August.

How is the Sport Coupé 35 laid out on deck and at the helm?

The boat uses the Sidewalk, the asymmetrical layout found on most Nimbus Coupés, with an extra-wide side deck to starboard. To port the deck is raised, making room for a bigger saloon and generous headroom on the way down to the mid cabin. A solid roof with sliding glass hatches replaces canvas.

At the starboard helm, a new sliding side door opens onto the side deck, and a small side gate in the hull, known in the US as a dive door, lets the skipper step straight onto the quay. The helm has Mercury Joystick Piloting with an integrated bow thruster and a single 16-inch or two 12-inch displays.

What accommodation does the Sport Coupé 35 offer?

The saloon dinette converts into a lounge or a bed, and the galley has a gas or electric hob and a double sink. Below deck there is a fore cabin with a double berth, a head with shower and a mid cabin. Outside, the foredeck seats up to eight around a table, while the aft deck has an L-shaped sofa for five or six, a fold-out side balcony and an integrated canopy.

Which engines are available for the Nimbus Sport Coupé 35?

Power comes from Mercury outboards, either a single V10 or twin V8 300s, or a Volvo Penta D6 inboard with a large bathing platform. Nimbus is aiming the boat at people who want one boat for the whole year.
